Our records show you have an upcoming appointment scheduled to move out of your residence hall. To view your appointment details, please visit your Housing Portal.
If you have decided that it is no longer necessary nor safe for you to return to campus to retrieve your belongings, that is o.k, please simply cancel your appointment via your Housing Portal.
Students may leave their belongings until a later date and at least until Friday, May 15, 2020. If conditions allow, we will schedule additional check-out appointments in April and May.
Expectations and Move-Out Reminders
It is a shared responsibility to protect ourselves and our fellow Terps. Our staff has arranged for an orderly process with appointment times for move-out. The facilities and housekeeping staff continue to clean and disinfect high touch areas throughout the buildings regularly and more frequently during the move-out period. There are a few expectations and reminders for all to adhere to when coming to campus to move-out. Per CDC guidelines and for your safety and well-being, please do the following:
- Remember to bring your residence hall room key and swipe card to access your building and room.
- Limit the number of people helping with your move-out and limit elevator use to one family at a time.
- Consider bringing sanitizing wipes, gloves, trash bags, and a dolly to use.
- Arrive on campus at your scheduled appointment time and complete your move within the four-hour window schedule.
- Do not congregate in common areas of the residence hall such as the lobby, stairwell, hallways, and patio areas. Maintain at least six feet of distance between you and other individuals.
- Avoid close contact with other individuals including shaking hands, hugging, etc.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Once all belongings are removed from the residence hall room, please place room keys in the provided key envelope and drop the sealed envelope in the check out box at the building/area residence hall service desk.
Arriving to Campus
Due to construction on-campus, there are some new traffic patterns to access residence halls. Please visit our website to learn the latest on closures and new access roads in and around the residence halls.
Here for you
The sudden closing of our halls saddens our Resident Life team. We had hoped students would return from spring break to have the latter part of the spring semester to continue developing friendships and making connections and have the opportunity to properly say our goodbyes.
Thank you for helping to make this a wonderful year. You are a major component of what defines and brings meaning to the Maryland Residential Experience.
You matter to us, and we hope you will join us on-campus again next year. Please note the On-Campus Housing and Dining Agreement deadline is now Friday, April 3, 2020. Submit your agreement today to be eligible. More details about the Room Selection process are forthcoming.
If you have any questions or would like to contact a member of our Resident Life team, please send an email with your request to reslife@umd.edu.
